THIRD STONE This group evolved from my first high school band "Electric Elephants". The lineup that made us famous was begat in 1991 and included Bryce Johnson - vocals, David Ward - bass, Jeff Markland - drums, and myself on guitar. We were signed to Hammerhead Records in 1993, and released our first album "The Stuff" the next year. The album received international radio play and peaked at #1 on a number of college stations. The album also peaked at #71 on the CMJ alongside bands like Alice in Chains, Pearl Jam, and Soundgarden. We toured as much as we could and eventually performed in about 25 states - from Seattle to Atlanta, Memphis to Salt Lake City, Minneapolis to Denver. It was good times. We shared the stage with bands like Tool, Motley Crue, Quiot Riot (my fav!), Mudvayne, LA Guns, a plethora of washed up 80's bands, and a band from Memphis that evloved into Saliva. Our second album "Hack" was less successful, and eventfully the hardships of the road did our singer in - after he quit we eked out a year and a half with me on vocals, then broke up. We reunited in 2005 for a fantastic show at The Canopy Club in Urbana - you can view pics at our site: www.thirdstone2005.com. CD's available at my merchandise page. |
| TWO RIVERS A folk-rock band formed as a side project to Third Stone, and named after my hometown of Two Rivers, WI. Members have included Bryce Johnson, Jimmy Markstahler, Jim Clymber, Michael "Guido" Esteves, David Ward, Mark Harris, Randy Millas (RIP), Jason Johnson, Ken Carpenter, and myself - TOMG. A beloved band to many, we put out two albums, the second of which I regard as some of my finest work. On it, I utilize my accordion, harmonica, dulcimer, percussion, as well as guitar and vocals. You can find both CD's on my merchandise page. A really unique act. The band is currently on one of our infamous indefinate hiatuses. |

THE BRAT PACK The most successful band I've ever been in - an 80's tribute band! A party band known for it's elaborate stage show that includes 80's fashion and costumes, a state of the art light show, impeccable musicianship, party favor giveaways, and lot's and lot's of good humor! I started this band in 1996 with my buddy Ian Shepard. Over the years we have had realtively few line up changes. It started with Jesse Van Halen - keyboards, Guido Menudo - bass, Ian Shepard - drums, Dawna Madonna - vocals, and me - Tommy Tubular on guitar and vocals. The current lineup includes Josh of Seagulls on drums, and Lynndi Lauper on vocals - I can't forget Gloria Newton John who rocked with us for a couple of years in there, too! This band allowed me to quit my job in 1998, and focus on music full time... good thing because this band is always in demand and usually books six months to a year in advance. Although we've never released a CD (someday?), we do have t-shirts which you will find on my merchandise page. It's good to be the king! www.thebratpack.com. |
| SICK DAY A high energy rock band where I performed on drums under the alias "The Crusher". Members were Adam Wolfe, Rory Grennan, Steve Carmody, and Guido Esteves. Our three year career saw the release of two EP's - "Garage Sale", and "Happy Ending". Tunes ala Foo Fighters, Oasis, and Black Sabbath. We had a lot of fun writing, recording, and performing these songs. Man, do I miss playing drums!!!! Do yourself a favor and buy one or both of our CD's on my merchandise page. www.sick-day.com. |

LIVE KARAOKE BAND This band is crazy! Formed in February of 2004 under the name "Live Karaoke with The Cheezy Trio", the idea is simple, yet brilliant - let people get up and sing with a live rock band! When the idea was pitched to us by Ward Gollings, local talent buyer, we knew it would work, because people are always trying to get on stage anyway... now it's legit! The original lineup was Jeff Markland and Steve Wills, of the area band X-Krush, and myself. About a year into it, Steve left the band, and was replaced by my old compadre Guido from The Brat Pack. The band's continues to grow despite only being able to perform on weekdays as The Brat Pack and X-Krush take up all the weekend nights. You won't hear us complain - this band is destined for greatness, it only takes time. |
| ELECTRIC PANTYLAND STUDIOS My home studio on PC. I have recorded a lot of bands over the years - Synesthesia, Sad Device, Bent til Broken, Alchymist, Darting Oxcart, Sick Day, Monkey Butler, and lots of other local bands you've never heard of. I currently use and Alesis HD 24, and Cakewalk Sonar 3 on my PC to do the same things we used to pay thousands of dollars for in a pro studio. I have a partially finished basement that makes a great recording room, and usually my dining room is the control room. Not very fancy, but extremely effective... I love producing new bands! |

OTHER PROJECTS My first drumming gig was in "Darting Oxcart" with my old buddy Charlie Greer. He and I recorded and EP of songs he wrote while living in LA. I played drums and lead guitar, he did rhythm guitars and vocals. It was also my first studio project where I engineered and produced. The quality is a little on the low-fi side, but the songs ROCK! We only did a few shows, but they were great! I have also performed extensively with Adam Wolfe - lead singer of Sick Day. We did a lot of acoutic gigs around the area, and I recorded a bunch of guitar tracks on his solo EP "Rockstar". I got to play a lot of slide guitar on it, which I love to do! |
